Measurements
L 7in x W 4in x H 2.5in
Own a rugged piece American laundry history with this exceptional antiqye cast iron sad iron base. Manufactured by the renowned Cleveland Foundry Company in Cleveland, Ohio, during the late 19th or early 20th century, this heavy-weight flatiron base represents the pinnacle of turn-of-the-century household technology.
The top face is beautifully and deeply embossed with the official maker hallmarks reading "CLEVELAND FOUNDRY CO. - CLEVELAND, OHIO - SIZE 3 - NO. 50" framed by twin structural screw-rivets. This model features a central locking slot originally engineered to receive a detachable wooden Mrs. Potts style grip handle.
Boasting a spectactular, genuinely aged dark charcoal-brown patina, this industrial relic functions wonderfully today as a rustic farmhouse bookend, a heavy doorstop, a paperweight for an office desk, or an accent piece on an open laundry room shelf.
